SPACE MISSIONS

Warfighter

Warfighter-1 is the hyperspectral instrument on Orbview-4. See the Orbview-4 entry under OrbView.

WEBERSAT

Wind

The Wind spacecraft was launched on November 1, 1994. See also Polar. The Wind and Polar missions are the two components of the GGS Program.

WindSat

Congress has directed $5M for WindSat in fiscal year 1997.

WIRE -- Wide-Field Infrared Explorer

Scheduled for launch in October 1998 on a mission to study the evolution of galaxies. See also EXPLORER and SMEX.

XMM -- X-ray Multi-Mirror Satellite

ESA mission, currently planned for a 1999 launch.

XTE -- X-ray Timing Explorer
